About Sebastian DeRosia

Sebastian, a native of Seattle, has a longstanding interest in all matters to do with consciousness, freedom, and plant-based medicines. His focus has always been on innovation, where he takes long-standing indigenous technologies & practices from across the world and transforms them into a forward-thinking, American form.

In 2004, Sebastian began exploring the possibilities of plant-medicines. He took multiple trips to Peru and Mexico to study plant & animal medicines in the years moving forward. In 2018, Sebastian founded the Seattle Psychedelic Society, a community-based education network to serve the growing demand of interest in psychedelics and plant medicines. At the same time, he ran a Cannabis friendly Bed & Breakfast called The Winston House in Seattle.

When the “Plandemic” roll-out entered the scene in 2020, he shifted his focus to freedom and sovereignty, two of the most important (and Psychedelic) topics of our time. He then relocated to rural Washington from Seattle where he now operates a community apothecary called The Vessel. The focus here is on face-friendly community-building and education. Regular workshops are held on addiction recovery, micro-dosing and other psychedelic related topics.

With fifteen-plus years in the health and wellness industry, Sebastian began working one-on-one with clients at The Vessel. His consultation service pays particular attention to habits and addiction, self-optimization, trauma and consciousness exploration, enabling the client to transform into their best personal self.

“Integration is action.  It is utilizing the capacity of your brain to form new neural pathways by doing things differently…”

Episode Highlights with Sebastian DeRosia

  • The history of psychedelic use in America has evolved from the hippie-era of using hallucinogenics liberally to a more refined knowledge consisting of micro-dosing, which is informed by indigenous wisdom of plant-based medicine.

  • The writing of Michael Pollan’s book How to Change Your Mind launched micro-dosing into the public sphere on a large scale.

  • Dr. James Patamin Protocol – taking dose every third day

  • Other protocols recommend 4 days on, 3 days off

  • Sebastian’s perspective is to listen to your own body closely

  • One of the most common reasons people turn to psychedelics is to get off of antidepressants.

  • Those with neurodegenerative diseases can find remarkable results with micro-dosing mushrooms and other psychedelics.  The same goes for those dealing with anxiety, depression, ADD, and other neurological/mental challenges.

  • Patients who micro dose do not experience hallucinations.  Often at the beginning of a protocol, one may feel a little “different” until the sweet spot of the perfect dose is found.

  • Using micro-dosing as a BioRegulatory method is about goals – the goal is to bring the body back into balance by restoration

  • If you think of neuronal pathways as a tree, when we reinforce habits and ways of thinking, we are strengthening these pathways.  Certain substances, such as alcohol, cause neural “pruning” – where the pathways become smaller and more engrained.  However, psychedelics do not cause pruning.  Rather, they cause neuronal “blooming” – an expansion of the neural pathways.

  • Micro-dosing can be even more effective for healing trauma and addiction when paired with therapy and certain protocols such as 12-step programs.

  • Macro-dosing can also be therapeutic in certain settings, such as Ayahuasca.

  • Ayahuasca can also be micro-dosed to eliminate side effects.

  • If you are interested in attending a retreat, try to get the know the person who will be holding the space beforehand.

  • There are several Psychedelic Societies across the states – these can be great resources to utilize in an effort to learn more

  • Cannabis also has neuronal pruning effects, like alcohol and cocaine.  Cannabis is an amplifying compound.  When put into a consumption culture, it has become overused.  Molecularly, it stays with the body longer than most psychedelics.
